An independent civic project — not an official government website How to tell

No seal, no .gov.ph address. Official municipal websites use a government domain and the municipal seal. This site uses neither, by design.

Every figure is sourced. Each number links to the government document it came from. Where they differ, the original document is authoritative.

Kumusta, Calatagan — Calatagan, Batangas, in the public record. Every figure traced to its source.

Cape Santiago lighthouse · 1890

BetterCalatagan gathers the town’s public record and gives answers only from Philippine Statistics Authority Department of the Interior and Local Government Bureau of Local Government Finance official sources. It’s free, runs no ads, tracks no one, and shows where every figure came from.

Scattered records,
in one place.

Census tables at the PSA, quarterly filings at the DILG, an income classification at the BLGF, and a municipal website that went offline. BetterCalatagan brings them together: 156 filings, 232 archived documents and 14 quarters of finances.

Per PSA, total population is household population plus institutional population. A barangay can therefore report people but no households: Baha reports 83 persons, 0 household population and 0 households, exactly as PSA publishes them. PSA does not say which institutional quarters those persons were enumerated in, and this project does not speculate.

Retrieved from PSA's own statistical database (OpenSTAT) for the 2024 Census of Population. The 25 barangay counts reconcile exactly to PSA's municipal total for both population and households; the pipeline refuses to write the dataset otherwise. PSA's definitions of each measure are captured from the same table and published alongside the figures.
