An independent civic project — not an official government website How to tell

No seal, no .gov.ph address. Official municipal websites use a government domain and the municipal seal. This site uses neither, by design.

Every figure is sourced. Each number links to the government document it came from. Where they differ, the original document is authoritative.

Tier 1 is published as-is. Tier 2 is published with a caveat shown next to the figure. Tiers 3 and 4 are held back and do not appear on this site. “Last verified” is when a maintainer last checked the source — not the date the data describes.

The history is sourced separately, sentence by sentence, with its own reference list.

Deliberately not published

These are facts people often expect to find here. Each is held back for a stated reason, and will be published once it can be sourced to the site’s standard.

Land area
PSA's own statistical table gives 10.50 km² and computes a 2024 density of 5,754 persons per km² from it. Comparable Batangas municipalities in that same table sit near 50 km², and a widely circulated figure for Calatagan is 101.50 km², which would make PSA's value a dropped digit. We cannot confirm which is right, so we publish neither.
Current elected officials
Election results for May 2025 are available from a civic-tech derivative of COMELEC data, but results are not the same as present incumbency, and no COMELEC or DILG primary source has been read. Scheduled for a later phase.
Calatagan’s own poverty incidence
PSA publishes municipal poverty (small-area estimates) only on psa.gov.ph, which this project’s tools cannot read. PSA OpenSTAT’s tables stop at the province, so the Statistics page shows Batangas’s figures, labelled as the province’s, and not a figure for Calatagan.
Financial figures from Full Disclosure Policy filings other than the Statement of Receipts and Expenditures
The Finances page publishes figures from the 14 quarterly Statements of Receipts and Expenditures, each traced to its spreadsheet cell and reconciled. The other 13 forms (142 filings, including the Statement of Cash Flow, Statement of Indebtedness, 20% development fund, disaster fund, trust fund and special education fund utilization reports, bid results and the annual budget report) are only indexed on the transparency section with links to each DILG original. No amount from them has been extracted or restated, because no extraction of those forms has been built or reviewed for accuracy.
COA audit figures and findings, and planning-document facts
COA is unreachable to this project’s tooling, and the planning documents circulate only on third-party document hosts with no government-hosted copy and no confirmed adoption status.

Disclosure filings

The disclosures index lists 156 Full Disclosure Policy filings across 14 statutory forms. 132 download cleanly from the DILG portal; 24 were returning a server error when last checked, and those filings remain listed with their metadata. The index restates no figures; the quarterly statements behind Finances are extracted separately and checked against their own totals.

Open items

  • Settle the land area. PSA’s own statistical table reports 10.50 km² for Calatagan and derives a 2024 density of 5,754 persons per km² from it. Comparable Batangas municipalities in the same table sit near 50 km², and a widely circulated figure is 101.50 km². A second primary source is needed to say which is correct.
  • Confirm the current incumbency of elected officials against COMELEC or DILG records. Election results are not the same as holding office today.
  • Establish which Commission on Audit annual reports exist for Calatagan. The COA site returns a bot challenge to this project’s tooling.
  • Find government-hosted copies of the municipal development and land use plans. Copies circulate on third-party document hosts, which attest nothing about authenticity or adoption.
